Mahjabeen Qazalbash, famous pashto singer known as Bulbul Khyber, died in Peshawar after a long illness.
Mahjabeen Qazalbash has been suffering from heart disease since 2015 and has been hospitalized in the intensive care ward of Lady Reading Hospital almost two months ago after suffering a heart attack where he died last night after suffering a life-and-death struggle.
Mahjabeen Qazalbash real name was Surayya Khanum. He was born in 1958 and became a singer when asked by his school teacher. Mahjabeen said in an interview that her teacher said, “If you are beautiful and have a good song, why not give auditions”. she then started her singing career with Radio Pakistan.
In addition to Pashto language, Qazalbash also composed songs in Dari, Urdu, Persian, Punjabi and Seraiki. In addition to several awards in recognition of her abilities, she was awarded the Presidential Award and the Pride of Performance. She was also given the award of “Bulbul Khyber”.
