Throughout the journey of HKKST, this drama has received immense criticism for portraying a regressive character as her fans were a bit disappointed to watch her portraying this much intense character. Recently Mahira Khan appeared in a chit-chat show named Something Haute and first time got vocal about all the criticism and feedback she received for this drama.
Mahira is of the view that this month she couldn’t follow much of this drama but obviously got an immense feedback and was able to know that how people are perceiving her character. What’s regressive about it? Mahira khan started her opinion by saying this. Mahira started that “even when I was reading it, I remember having a feeling like uhh I literally want to kill Aswad and why just Mehreen get up and do something about it. To show that abuse exists, to show that emotional abuse does exist and trauma like this exists, we have to portray it”.
People just wanted to see an inspirational journey, not the one who is getting abused and doing nothing to get out of it. Mahira also added that all the women who suffered or are suffering from this trauma would eventually get inspiration from the character of Mehreen. She stated that she had also gone through a phase of her life where she, just like Mehreen couldn’t speak anything for herself. These are the circumstances that have made Mehreen a person just like this.
She also acknowledged that Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay really should show the trigger warning. The show dies to include some scenes that really pricked the audience but what to do these are the facts of our society. The second last or last episode would eventually leave people thinking that it’s extremely wrong to compare the capabilities of kids with the others.
