Sohail Tanvir is a Pakistani cricketer and he has gained considerable international acclaim for his unorthodox left-arm bowling action. Sohail was selected for the Pakistan’s squad for the inaugural World Twenty20. He has gained much success in Twenty20 format of the game. He was picked as Shoaib Akhtar’s replacement for this.
Later on, Sohail Tanvir was the first ‘purple cap’ winner in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League. A statistical analysis was conducted by Cricinfo after the conclusion of league stage of the tournament and he was rated in it as the most successful player, alongside with this, he was also awarded as the second-best value player of the tournament.
But just a small number of tests in India were the only games for Tanveer in whites. After that, he was type-cast as a white-ball bowler. These were the times when his career was going upward but unfortunately soon after T20 World Cup championship in 2009, a major knee injury hit Tanvir and he has to come out of the cricket for more than a year. In the year 2017, Tanvir took the most wickets in 2016-2017 Regional One Day Cup and a total of 15 dismissals.
