
Mohammad Sharif professionally known as Umer Sharif is a well-known Pakistani comedian, director, producer, actor, and television personality. Umer Sharif belonged to an Urdu-spoken family and was raised up in Liaquatababd, Karachi. Umer Sharif started his career being a stage performer at the age of 19. Some of the most popular comedy shows of Umer Sharif include Bakra Qiston Pe and Buddha Ghar Pe Hai in 1989’s. Afterward, Umer Sharif started his career on Television in 2009. He hosted a late-night show, The Sharif Show on Geo TV. In which he interviewed many actors, musicians, and media personalities. Also, this iconic man appeared as a guest judge on the Indian stand-up comedy The Great Indian Laughter Challenge.

Umer Sharif has also received many awards after the recognition of his efforts. Umer Sharif was awarded Nigar Awards. Umer Sharif was the only actor who was awarded Nigar awards four times in a single year. Sharif was also a recipient of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.

On 10th September 2021, Pakistani well-known host and journalist Waseem Badami posted a video of Sharif on a social media platform Instagram where he appealed to the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan to facilitate Umer Sharif’s cancer treatment. Soon after the video got viral, Indian singer Daler Mehndi also appealed to Imran Khan for the treatment of Sharif. On 11th September 2021, the government formed a board to decide if Umer Sharif should be sent overseas for treatment. He was granted a United States visa for medical treatment on 16th September 2022. But all the efforts made by the government were not fruitful as the dawn of 2nd October 2021, appeared with the heartbreaking news that the heart of Pakistan, the comedy king of Pakistan, the legend Umer Sharif is no more between us.
