Mufti Rafi Usmani, the Grand Mufti of Pakistan and the President of Darul Uloom, Karachi, passed away on Friday. He was 86 years old. This sad news was confirmed by Banoori Media on its Facebook page and shared with fans.
Here we tell you that he was the elder son of Maulana Mufti Muhammad Shafi who is the founder of Darul Uloom Karachi. He was the famous ‘Muffasir’ of the Holy Quran and the Grand Mufti of Pakistan. He was also an activist of Tehreek-e-Pakistan. He was born in 1936 in Deoband when his father Mufti Muhammad Shafi was a teacher in Darul Uloom Deoband.
Not many people know that Mufti Muhammad Rafi Usmani was the elder brother of Shaikhul Islam Justice Retired Maulana Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani. The deceased spent his entire life teaching Quran and on the premises of Darul Uloom Karachi.
Mufti Rafi Usmani was also the author of many famous books. He was one of the prominent scholars in Pakistan. He was ill for several months. The funeral prayer will be offered in the graveyard located on the premises of Darul Uloom Karachi.
